The Evening Telegraph's Kevin Bryan says: "It's not the most subtle offering that Rundgren has
ever unleashed on his discerning devotees but as an exercise in rather superior
synth-based dance music it fulfils its function more than adequately, with
Evrybody, Blind and Terra Firma emerging as the best of the bunch."
Meanwhile, Record Collector's
Joseph Adair says: "Global is as pastiche-y as the album’s cartoon-styled portrait
sleeve, but no less enjoyable for that" in its 3 star review.

I would say you could take half the songs off State and half off Global you could make a really great album. I just really don't need to hear the straight ahead dance stuff like Everybody and Party Liquor. But the more somber and ballad-type tunes are welcome additions to the TR catalog, in my opinion.
